Konso Fortified Village

Konso is a World Heritage Site, founded on a landscape of ancient sculpted terraces within which a handful of dense fortified villages protected the farmers from neighbouring tribes. The land is now at peace, and numerous isolated dwellings are springing up as a result. The old villages have expended over time, and with each expansion a new ring of fortifications has been built.
